This was the first time the event was hosted in a First Nations community. • The Canadian Native Friendship Centre is a gathering place for Indigenous People’s and provides cultural, recreational and social programming. The CNFC serves approximately 10,000 people annually through various programs and functions that include the popular Edmonton Indigenous Peoples Festival. CANADIAN NATIVE FRIENDSHIP CENTRE • Headquartered in Edmonton, the Métis Nation of Alberta strives to secure an autonomous land base for the Métis people, as well as obtain improved education, health, social and economic conditions. • In the past decade, the Métis population has nearly doubled and is one of the fastest growing populations in Canada. • Edmonton is in Region IV of the Metis Nation of Alberta.
